9" Diff I.D.

I searched the forum looking for some kind of decoder the gibberish Ford puts on their Axle tags, but found nothing usefull.

I got a 9" rear end from an 82 Bronco that I want to swap into my truck. Curently, I have a 8.8 with 3.55 gears (according to my Ford build sheet).

Here's the code:

WFE-AW 0A08
3L50 9 S319A

Please help me decode this.

It's a 3.50 ratio. The "L" between the 3 and 50 (3L50) means it as a limited slip.

Anybody know what the rest of the writing means?

And as for the 3.50 ratio, will that be compatible with the 3.55 ratio i have in the front axle? I know it's close, but is it close enough?

If you are only using 4WD in the sloppy stuff, it will be ok...... Your's isn't full time, right?

If you look up the front 44 gear ratio for both a 9 inch or 8.8 bronco you will find the front ratios are the same.
