Hello everyone. One of my friends trucks rear is shot. Its a 1979 F-150. On saturday we are going to a U pull it, but I'm not sure exactly what the rear is or what the gear ratio is. The silver tag is still on the rear, and this is how it reads
EV-A 9HB (the B could be an 8, but I'm pretty sure its a B)
50 6 7 780A
Also, above it there is a tiny little plate that says 8106.
If someone could decode this for me, I would really appreciate it. Also, if the gear ratio isnt on this tag, how can you find what it is?
Thank you very much for your help, Garrett
Yeah it is in a 4wd, I forgot to add that. Perhaps I missed a number, but shouldn't it read 3:50 instead of just a 50? That would make more sence to me, but I dont know the first thing about coding . Thanks very much for the replies. I guess I just search for a rear that looks the same and has a 50 there?
Garrett
It does say 3.50, just that the 3 is so close to the bolt or the stamping may be worn out. Look carefully though, because it might say 3L50, which would indicate a limited slip unit.
Sorry it took a while to respond.
Thanks for all the help. We went to the yard and found a 9 in with 3:50 gears and got it home. Couldn't have done it without you!
Thanks again, Garrett
