After much investgation I beleive that the Shift Module has gone bad in my push button Four Wheel Drive. I have called just about every source I can think of and cannot find this part anywhere. A quick check with the dealer left me breathless, with a whopping $498.00 price tag. Can anyone suggest where I can find on used ?
www. car-part.com We see more problems with the shift motor bolted to transfer case- have someone under truck tapping on motor with hammer(key on) while someone is pushing 4x4 button- sometimes have to unbolt motor and tap on. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Ojodestranger, before your offer I found one for $35.00 on-line thanks to Trublufords suggestion. It would have worked out because I live in South Texas also. I did have the motor off and gave it a few good raps but still no go. There is no clicking noise and I metered the lead and it is getting both power and instructions from both the Four Wheel High and Low switches. I am confident that it is the module.
Where in S. TX.
Mine is in Harlingen.
If you know anybody needing any parts for a 1995 Bronco, let me know. I'd like to help out the Bronco owners who are in need...
Did you take the cover off the motor cover. There is a plastic stop inside that breaks from temp changes, and it makes the plate inside out of time(for lake of a better term). You can repair it with a piece of 5/16 vacuum hose. You nwill need a tamper proof torx drive to remove the cover.
I saw this repair done on another web site when my Sons' truck did the same thing.
I can't think of site off hand ,but this might get you started.
Just saw my son he reminded me of the site
try www.glue.umd.edu/~singletn/exp.html
I know this says it's for an Explorer but the process worked on my sons 94 F150. Just scroll down to where transfercase what to check first.
Hope this helps
