Is anyone using the Car Code OBD-2 interface cable and PC software with the 2004 F150?
If so, what gateway interface and protocol settings are you using?
So far, I haven't been able to come up with a combination that works. I've been getting the dreaded busy signal.
Thanks.
Ford switched to the CAN bus on the 2004 F-150. You can send your unit back and trade up to the TriCAN. I did this a couple of weeks ago and I'm back in business.
Ah...well..as long as it's under warranty I'd save the $$ and put it towards a Superchips tuner where it can actually *do* something. The dealers have all the diagnostics I'll need.

True if you trust auto mechanics and dealership service departments.
I do virtually all my own non-warrenty repairs. The investment I made in car code two years ago paid for itself twice over.
I wish I could do the same thing with my stock market investments in the same time frame.
I paid more for the last chip I bought than I did for the car code and was seriously unhappy with it. In fact, after a while I stopped using it because it did more harm than good.

Exactly, plus if you own any other vehicles that are not under warranty ('96 and newer), it works on them too. Even if you don't fix the car or truck yourself after the warranty is over, it's really nice to know what's wrong with it before you take it in to make sure your not robbed. The only problem is that all your friends want you to take a look at their vehicles too.
Another cool thing is that it gives you live sensor data from the 100's of sensors and switches in your truck (325 data points on the 2004 F-150). It even gives you the torque that the engine is pulling (calculated by the PCM)which would be very interesting for all of you that have the tuners. You can actually see what the tuner has done in real numbers. For example, you can see how much the tuner has increased the transmission pressure to get the firmer shifts, you can keep an eye on the transmission temperature while towing, etc....
