I gave up on my quest to figure out a way to make the Ford Optional Trailer Camera option (that I didn't order) work on my truck. I never got it because it doesn't let the trailer cam stay on while driving.
I have no harness, the IPMB isn't configured properly, it all wires differently when more cameras are added according to VIN... It's getting confusing.
And I'm not overly happy with my auxiliary screen I was trying to install either.
Nothing is as good as having the camera view on the stock screen.
So I just ordered this Video Interface from Italy. Video interface for Ford SYNC 3
Does what I want it to. So for the basically the same price of the Ford option I didn't get, I hook this up to my trailer back up camera's wireless receiver composite out and I'm able to view while it while driving, and still have full function of Sync3.
Well so far no good.
I tried installing the interface today and the main "pass through" harness has connectors that don't match the APIM...I assumed it would connect to the APIM. I don't see any other connectors in the dash that match.
The instructions are VERY poor to top it all off.
I think the kit is intended for a head unit that isn't programmed for a rear camera, and adds the input for a generic camera. But if your head unit is already set up for a rear camera, I wonder what this would do if plugged in?
