I agree with the warped drums. You can test them by slowly stopping only using your e brake. Do this in a quiet area of town and you only need to travel at 5 mph. If the drums are warped you will probably feel the whole truck lurching/surging.
recently the truck has had a clunking noise when applying the brakes, so today i gently but steadily applied emergency brake while driving around 40 mph. while pushing on the ebrake and about a 1/4 of the way down, i hear a loud "clunk" which sounded exactly like the clunks i heard before. I tried it 3 times and each time i heard the clunk. the clunk seems to come from the rear of the truck.
This truck has front disc and rear drum brakes. No ABS light on.
I replaced rear shoes at around 100k but otherwise the rear brakes are stock. I've also recently experienced some mild pulsation when braking but my front rotors are i think in good shape so from Racerguy's comments the rear drums may need turning. Easy to think the problem is just rear drums but before i take them off would like to hear your ideas i.e. is maybe the
e cable at fault or ?
thanks for any suggestion.
