i looked into this same senario about 5 years ago when i put a 460 in my 86 bronco from what i recall art carr was only who had the adapter plate but you'll also need the new input shaft for the swap plus a new torque convertor for it plus .the need to upgrade the aod to handle the additional torque . seems to me like it was well over a $1000 to dothis soi just went with a rebuilt c6 good luck

Can an AOD be built to last reliably behind a 460 in a truck that tows? I'm thinking of changing the C6 in my F350 for an AOD but am reluctant to do it because I don't want constant problems with it. What I'd really like is a GearVendors OD unit, but I can't see spending 3 grand on a new one and it's not likely I would find a used one for my application (4x4). I'm thinkin an AOD swap would cost alot less than a GearVendors or an E4OD swap.

like i mention in above post when looking into this a while ago it was spendy but was told it would handle about 450to 500lb ft tq. but you pretty much have to rebuild the whole tranny cause you'llhave to put in the lower gearset plus all other mods it will be very spendy.so you'll have about $1600 plus or minus a $100 or so for tranny plus the torque from art carr was about 400 back then plus around 400 for the adapter plate plus a couple hundred for the longer input shft so roughly 3k to get it done i would look for alternate ideas my self and as suggested from others .hope this helps some like imentioned this was about 5 years ago too
