Well - I am NOT allowed to leave. I am currently sitting in the station in between calls while we await for the hurricane to strike us. Our location is only supposed to have about 70+ mph winds but we are supposed to get about 14 inches of rain.
We are still cleaning up from Charlie. The eye on that one directly passed over us as it exited the state...
Now we are looking forward to Ivan...
Let us all start thinking positive thoughts that Ivan will not hit you folks.
Enough is enough…you all need to dry out….no pun
I haven't heard from her since 4PM Sunday. She doesn't have a cell phone either. She has neighbors who do, but it is possible that the cell network is down. When I try to call, all I get is a fast busy signal. I told her that if I didn't hear form her by 5PM Tuesday, I'd drive down.
I'm going to guess she is ok, it's funny how we get spoiled by technology, if I can't talk to her in a matter of seconds I get all worried.
Yea! My mom got to a cell phone this morning and called me. She is ok but her house took a bit of a hit. Neighbors replaced some shingles and my best friend from Gainesville went down to saw the tree that fell on the roof.

Hooray for nice people!
(Can you tell I'm happy?)
Glad to hear she is OK. For what it is worth our cell phones went totally out Sunday and Monday and came back this afternoon. We use Cingular. We thought that perhaps it was a billing issue but they said that there were so many damaged cells and so much draw on their use that service would be spotty until they could repair the damaged cells. In much of Martin and some of Palm Beach counties cell phones are the only com-lines in and out. Indeed this could be said of a whole bunch of Florida at the moment. My sister-in-law lives in northern Polk county and she has had two hurricane eyes pass over her home in three weeks. No phone lines to her home and her cell is only working when she goes into work in Orlando. 2004 will go down as a tough year in Florida history. Good for the construction folks and landscapers, though!
