hey guys and gals,
got a 99 sd with a v10, went to work this morning and the abs light went on and stayed on. i thought i'd drive it to work and check it out later. well pulled out the driveway and it didnt want to shift out of 1st, gave her somemore gas 2700rpm and then it slamed into 2nd, and wound up again and slamed into 3rd, it then shifted at the normal rpm in od. i have taken out the hyper-tech program back to stock. no differance. anyone had this type of greif?
The price from Ford is about $26.00 I just replaced mine. Remove the front sensors (mounted on the steering knuckles) and clean both of them. I replaced both of the front ones (all 3 of the sensors cost me about a 100 bucks total at the dealer). When I pulled the front ones off they were heavily coated in brake dust. The light has not came back on.
The rear ABS sensor in the center of the rear diff is probably bad. See it all the time. It will affect the transmission and the speedometer. I change 3 or 4 of these sensors a week at the Ford Garage I work at for the same exact problem. It is rare to have a front sensor go bad unless someone accidentally damages it doing maintence on the front end. Brake dust will usually not affect the sensor. The rear one will have gear lube all over it when you remove it which is normal. Thy are a common item and most any Ford dealer will stock them for around $20-$25 dollars. Easy part to change. One bolt and it slides out of the case of the rear diff. Hope this helps....
hey guys been pretty busy with work!!! thats a good thing eh. it was that sensor on the rear end. got it form napa for $11.00. shifts great again. put the program for shift kit back in, everything is right with the henry built. great info guys. thanks again.
