I am also tryinsg to get a handle on the noise level which makes a great difference in how they feel like when quiet.
Who makes a good carpet to pu in a 66? D Carpenter LMC Carolina Classic alll have different kinds.. . I am getting ready to do dreaded cab floor repair.

Yes, after I finally found a source for the Thinsulate I bought a bunch to install in my '93 Lightning. I'm waiting for it too cool down in Phoenix before I begin tearing out the interior, removing the shoddy, and replacing it with the Thinsulate.
I'll let you know how it works after the install.
