There have been a few posts related to this product, but I was wondering if anyone has this in their truck, and how they like it. Also, what amp do you have driving this sub? What is the cost?
I have a stock '03 F250 CC, and have the captain's chairs in front. I really like the idea of the Stealthbox, since the design of my new system will be to keep everything as hidden as possible. Since I won't be buying everything for the system at the same time (I did that once, and am still hearing about it ), I thought the sub would make a good first component.
JL stuff is very high quality but is expensive. Have you looked at Q-logic enclosures? Here is one for your truck. Im not sure how much it differs from the JL but I can assure you its cheaper and it allows you to pick from a number of subs that are much more affordible and offer as good or better performance. Im not sure if you have a bench or bucket seat up front...the bench stealth box from JL is far inferior to the bucket setup. The W0 sub is an older design and the below option would smoke it. The W3 for the bucket seats is a very nice sub and comperable to the option below but more expensive.
Yeah, the JL stuff is really expensive, but as far as I can see, they still have by far the best setup out there. Crew Cabs (at least mine, a 2001 F-150) are miserable for adding equipment. Even the stuff from that site that specializes in SCrews is a compromise...I don't want to lose the storage behind the rear seats and their dual 8" configuration doesn't offer individually-sealed enclosures. The Q-logic stuff is nice, but similarly I hate to lose the space between the seats (plus I have rear buckets, so I couldn't use it anyway.
For those of us who aren't (yet) ready to fork over the $$ for the JL solution, the only choice seems to be a custom console that replaces the factory console between the front seats. There's plenty of room there and running wiring there is much simpler than it would be to the rear. Plus you could put in an amp for the other speakers too, which is a big plus. Maybe this winter if I get bored...
I have a 94 F250 with captain chairs in the front. I made custom sub enclosure to replace to the factory console between the seats. It looks great, when people enter the truck they can't even tell that it wasn't from the factory. I've got a JL audio 10" W3v2 powered by a JL 300.2. I love it, excellent sound quality at all listening levels and hits pretty hard for a 10. Just my 2 cents hope it helps.
I have been using JL subs in cars for years. In February I put a new system in my truck with the JL enclosure that goes under the center bench seat. I have 200 watts driving the sub. It sounds outstanding!! Well worth every penny and a lot easier then building a custom box.
I have a 2003 F350 Lariat Super Cab with 40/20/40 split bench seating with a StealthBox installed. Powered by JL Audio e2150 AMP bridged.
Plenty of quality bass.
I like the way it does not take up ANY cab room.
The center "20" bench no longer has any padding so, my son starts to complain about his @$$ after a couple of hours of sitting on the "StealthBench" . That is the only down side. If your running captains seats I guess this would be a non issue.
They are a little costly but, I feel well worth it!
I have a 97 f150 extended cab with two 12w6 JLAudio subs. I put a 4" seat lift in and custom made the box. If you can do the same with a super crew, I would strongly suggest it. My friend has a 95 Chevy extended cab with the JL 2 10w0 stealth box and his sounds good as well. I would recommend JL to anyone. I have had these subs for years and drive them pretty hard (soundstream 10.0 amp, rated at 1000 watts at 0.75 ohm) and have never had a problem.
I built a similar box to the stealth that sits in the '20' section of the front, as dirtstu said, the middle passenger isn't all that comfortable, but the setup is well worth it. I'm all about sound with out comprimising space, this has worked very well for me. The Stealth box is what gave me the idea of building a box for the center. I used 2 RF 8's, only because that is what I had in the garage. Have a smaller amp, 120W or so to 4 ohm. Replaced all speakers, kept the factory HU, all in all sounds awesome, doesn't blow everything away but it works for what I wanted.

I have the Center Console JL Stealthbox and a JL Audio 500/5 amp that I just took out of my 2006 Lariat Crew Cab. Traded the truck in for an 2010 Harley edition. The newer SD console is different and the replacement stealthbox is a smaller sub so I went with the new 13.5" Shallow mount behind the rear seat with a new JL HD 900/5 amp ( This thing is tiny).
Both the sub and the amp are for sale and in excellent condition, contact me at dw@ne-t.com if interested?
I have a jl stealthbox for the jump seat in ,mint condition. I need the stealthbox for the center console for my 2000 ford excursion sashi71@aol.com thanks
