Just pulled the JL Audio Stealthbox (Console) out of my 2004 Ford F250 6.0 Diesel King Ranch edition before trading it in. Is there much of a market for these right now? What are they going for? I looked around the internet, but didnt see too many listings for them. The JL website lists it for $650.
I only used it for a couple of years and it's in great shape.
I also have an Alpine MRP-450 amp that drove the box, but I see it's now discontinued.

I always wondered how that JL console stealthbox worked. Did it not have it's own amp? How easy was it to install?
Very easy to un-install. The only issue was getting under the truck to remove the two bolts used to secure it to the frame. Not hard, but I needed a second person inside the cab to keep the bracket from spinning while I removed the second bolt.
Alas, I'm guessing when I finally get around to doing something with the stock audio, I'll probably take the cheap route and simply add the new Sony amp I have sitting in a box and upgrading the stock speakers to quality 3-way's.
I can dream though of a nice subwoofer and a nice double DIN navigation head unit though ;-)
How much console space is left after this built in box is installed? I have thought about one of these but can't sacrifice my entire console. I have even thought about putting the center bench back in with the Stealthbox in that instead of the full console I have now.
The stealthbox fills up most of the console, but is designed so that the top of the box provides a usable tray, probably 4" deep, under the console lid. Among other items, I kept sunglasses and a flashlight there. You won't be able to store BIG items, but then again, things are easier to find than digging around in the "console cavern".
Also, after installation, the entire console is raised 1.5" inches off the floor. This allows air to escape, which creates a better bass sound.
If you're interested 81beast, I'd be happy to sell mine to you. Although, I don't yet know what a fair price would be, and I'd also suggest you make sure it fits in your '09first...

I was thinking there'd be less room than that inside; nice that there is that much. And you're right, the existing console is cavernous! I have put a cooler in there with ice and soda...room enough for a 12 pack and some ice!
With it that Stealth box raised off the ground, does that mean debris and other things could get under there? Or is it 'closed off' somehow except for air?
I'm torn between the Stealthbox, a custom box for behind the seat, or a small under seat subwoofer like the Sound Ordinance. I don't want to win any competitions, be the loudest, just decent sound.
I find there is so much to learn about this stuff. Some say to forget about the rear speakers all together in a truck cab...just focus on the fronts and a sub. But I digress... better stop..didn't mean to hijack the thread with random thoughts ;-)
I over-estimated the height that the console is raised, The website states that it is only lifted 1.5". I never had any issues with debris, or anything else, getting under the console.
A couple of reasons I went with the Stealthbox:
1. I didn't need to rattle house windows, but wanted a good, deep bass. If you read the reviews, that's exactly what the SB provides. Don't get me wrong, it gets loud, but more importantly, it sounds good.
2. I've had custom-built boxes stolen out of 2 other vehicles, and actually had the Double DIN stereo taken out of my truck. I never had to worry about the SB as it was bolted to the undercarriage.
Also, I was instructed not to replace my stock rears because they are hidden behind the seat. I only replaced the fronts. Those, with the SB and amp, created a great sounding/feeling system!

wow... good point.

I'm glad you mentioned that... probably saves me from $$...I had just assumed I was going to replace those...but I'm thinking not now.
ok.. I have to ask.. what are you looking to get for it? if the price is right I might consider getting rid of my 10" W7 sealed box and going with this "stealthy" solution.. besides.. the kids would be much less likely to poke at the speaker than my current setup. Let me know..
Throw that JL SB on ebay and hope for the best. Because these are vehicle specific enclosures you may not get much action on it though. Also, because it is used, you may not get what you would want to expect either. Probably shoulda just left it in the truck for the next owner to enjoy.

Give a look at the MTX Amplified Thunderform, it is quite stealthy, fits like a glove and takes up room you would never use and, my 2 10" Thunder 4500's will indeed fuzzy yer rearview on command if need be, otherwise, it fills the lows very well...

Just yesterday I reviewed your project on some discussion/picture thread. Quite impressive!!!
I have the load floor in my 2006, as well as the rear sliding window that seems to prevent usage of many enclosures that might otherwise fit. I think there is a Thunderform that has one sub that does fit behind the seat. I may have to add that to things to consider.
I ran the JL stealth box in my 05' powered by a Punch 300 and it sounded great. Very happy with the bass that came out of it. No clue what it would sell for though.
Someone will be very happy with it's performance though.
