Another question. I would like to add a transmission cooler to my PSD. I pull a fifth wheel and normally the tranny does not get very warm. But when I get into slow uphill pulls it will get very warm. As I have a high degree of faith in this forum, whatever I install will be that which is recommended here. Thank you

FBINA109,

I too tow a 5th wheel. Mine is close to 13,000 lbs. I went with the BD 12v fan cooled double stacked transmission cooler. The cooler does a fine job and can either be set up with an auto system that turns the fan on when it reaches a certain temp, or like mine where I can turn it on at will. (usually at 190*) I also flushed my transmission and refilled with full synthetic ATF. The synthetic gives me an additional 30 -40 worry free degrees and last 3-4 times longer than conventional ATF. I send a sample of my ATF in for analysis about every 15,000 - 20,000 miles. The BD (Big Daddy) is a bit pricey and there are several others on the market less expensive that also do a fine job.

Thanks for your response. I am in Montana and have no idea where to find the BD Transmission cooler, could you please advise me. I talked to a Mobil tech and got the recommended synthetic. I run their synthetic in the engine and have run it for years in gas vehicles with great luck. It is especially nice in the cold winters, motor turns over much easier. At my age it may be my last truck and I want to keep it top grade.
