Question shocks for F250

Looking for suggestions on new shocks, front and rear. I have a 2002 F250 2WD and so carry some heavy loads. Thanks for any suggestions.

I also need shocks for my 02 F250 with 2" front level and 4" rear blocks. It seems that everyone here likes the Bilsteins, but I don't like the bright yellow and blue color of the 5100s (i think that's the right part #). Can I get them in a different color or paint them?

You may want to check out the Rancho 9000 shocks. They adjust from empty to full load and do a great job. I carry a #2,000 camper and tow a #4,200 boat. It rides just fine when adjusted right.

A bud of mine just installed Edelbrocks with the "smart valve" and really likes them. I have seen a lot of good reports on the Bilsteins also.

My 2001 SD will have some new ones soon... I'm just torn between the 2 mentioned above.

I've had the bilstein's and the rancho's. The rancho's are nice if you get the in-cab adjustment deal but otherwise you'll be crawling under your truck to adjust each shock. I have bilstein (5100's) now and they're pretty nice (get the polished ones carl, that's what I have). I have yet to try the resevoir or even the by-pass shocks on my truck but that'll be down the road.

I'M partial to Monroe's, Lifetime warranty, anytime you are not happy with the ride you can get new ones.

Last truck I put new ones on every 50K I sold the truck with 387,000 miles on it, only paid for the 1st set.

I put Rancho 9000x's in my '01 without the remote, the fronts are easy to get to, the back ones you have to crawl...

Only put about 8K miles on 'em so far, so can't speak for the 9000x's longevity, but have 5000's and 7000's (front) in my '74 and they are flawless after 15 years and about 80K miles...

Off-road (light-duty) and on-road, they are superb, just adjust them for whatever you want - I had them on "7" all around and while stiff, it was fun to drive - since then, I have gone down to "6" in rear and "5" in front... not too bad.

I can't compare them to anything else, except for the stock shocks and let's just say the stock ones STANK...

I have the Bilsteins and the Rancho 9000X's on my F350. Bilsteins in the front and Ranchos in the back. I too haul a 2000 lb slide in camper and tow a trailer and the Ranchos are great for the adjustable feature in the rear. I like the Bilsteins in the front, since front axle weight doesn't change much between loaded and unloaded and I dont have to do anything to them to get a good ride under all conditions. I'm happy with both shocks and would buy them both again . The Bilsteins are a little cheaper than the Ranchos (for the yellow ones) but in my opinion they are built to a higher quality level. Both have a good design and work great.

I myself have the Bilsteins and I could tell a huge difference in the way the truck rode and handled, much, much better. You might do a search because there is some great info out there on shocks. Everyone is a bit brand loyal but after reading the Bilsteins seemed to be engineered for individual applications as opposed to just "one shock fit's all" I just know that they were a heck of a lot better than the stock ones I took off! Do the seach and here's a belated welcome to FTE!
