I just bought a 1995 F-250 and I need to replace the front shocks, the truck has a lift kit on it but I don't know what size lift. My question is how do I measure the lift on my truck so I know what size shocks to buy????? Also what kind of shock would you suggest? Thanx!!
You could park it next to another f250 of around the same year and measure.
Keep in mind the tire size when your measuring.
I would think if you posted a picture on here, someone should be able to tell you around what size lift you have. Most common are leveling kits, 4 then 6 inch. Is it REALLY lifted, or just somewhat lifted? (got a pic?)
Did the previous owner tell you it had a lift and you're taking his word for it? I've seen people try and say that a truck has a lift kit to make it "worth more" and then play dumb if you call them on it. Post a pic and someone will be able to tell.
u could measure the cylinder all the way to the mounting hole that will give u a rough estimate on the collapsed length and X's by 2 that will give u roughly extended
The guy I bought it from didn't say it was lifted, it just looks to me like it is cause my father has a F-250 and mine is taller, I saw a block in between the top of the rear axle and the u clamp that measures 2", but could not find anything in the front to measure???

Even a stock height truck has a block under the rear axle spring. The front should never have a block, lift kit or not.
the tires are 285/75 R16, I don't know if that is 33 or 35. Thanks andym, I didn't know that, maybe it doesn't have a lift on it, just seems a little tall, could it be just the 285 tires? Bottom line I don't care if it has a lift or not I just want to know exactly what front shock to buy, really don't care if there $22 each or $90 each, I just need new front shocks.
Sorry, I'm a Heli pilot, I no next to nothing about trucks and how to fix them, but I'm a quick study, I'm guessing center bolt to center bolt on the shock right??????
