Diesel bell housing interchange?

Rephrased:
I don't mind swapping both engine and transmission, but if the stock box behind the diesel can be adapted to the gas engine with just a bellhousing/misc. parts change I'd prefer that. It would be in a wrecker or rollback (checking various leads now) so not having to come up with another PTO would be a plus. I haven't worked on any of the (gas or diesel) 5-speeds so I'm not familiar.
Thanks again for the replies.

If it is the 5-speed, you will have to change the tranny too, as it has an integral bellhousing (built into the tranny case) and the gas and diesel bolt patterns won`t interchange. If it was a T-19 4-speed, I think you would be all right because the bellhousings are removable and ?should? interchange. I have a 1986 F350 with a 460 transplanted in place of the 6.9 by the previous owner. I am assuming he just swapped bellhousings on the 4-speed T-19 tranny but I haven`t looked into it.
