That latch isn't cheap so I don't blame you for being weary, the best price I'm seeing is around $80.00.

 

Here I am, 20+ years after this thread started and about 4.5 years after the last post, but wanted to thank everyone! I have a 97 15 pass I picked up a few years ago that I slowly turned into a weekend getaway camper/tail-gate party van. Outside back handle stopped working about 2 months ago, and life got in the way so I was just using the inside to open. This past weekend, that stopped working, as well. Of course I have a wooden loft built so it's been a contortion act getting the back panel off; thought I'd be able to at least open from inside but no luck. Spent quite a while searching for videos, tips, you name it and then i found this and it's PERFECT; this is exactly what happened with mine. Going to order the part and try and get this swapped out in the next week. Thanks all!
