1969 Bronco - Steering problem

Has anyone had a problem with the steering wheel retaining nut backing out. The nut has back out enough two times to where you can't steer anymore. Has anybody ever seen a lock washer or something to keep this from backing out. Or you think something is stripped. Let me know your thoughts.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket wheel. The factory one need a puller to come off the column even if the nut is off.

I agree. Even the aftermarket ones with the aluminum adapter need a puller to get off.

Just take a ball peen hammer and use the rounded end to rivit the locking end of the nut a bit before puting it back on the shaft over the steering wheel.

My bronco has a spring under the steering wheel to provide a positive force against the wheel similar to how a lock washer acts. Also consider a locking compound like Loctite.
