After backing off the throttle fast, I sometimes hear what sounds like a gradual backfire in the exhaust manifold (drivers side), it's not a loud bang or a pop. The truck runs great, 3,200 smile miles for far. I've been getting 17-18 MPG with 50/50 in-town/hwy miles.
Is this a normal sound after backing off the pedal fast?
11/04 truck build date, the label on the engine has a white bar code label which shows 6167417-EG042AB. I'm not sure where it was built or how to decode the engine serial number. VIN 1FTNW20P94EB07408 2004 F250 CC 2X4
If it's like a fluttering sound, yes thay all do this.
Yes it's a fluttering sound and lasts 1 or 2 seconds. Like I said it's my first PSD and first diesel. I was just curiuos what the sound was. Thanks for the info.
TURBO BARK.. Normal.. Even the 05's do it.. If you power brake, and bring the RPM's up to 18-2000 (sometimes lower) and snap the throttle closed, you'll hear the 'Tim' sound!!!
It sounds like.... WAPaaPAApa...pretty good huh, well I tried...it is normal
Tim..... That's the perfect spelling of the sound I hear. After that I hear a whistle again. Perhaps I should listen to my radio, but I love to hear that engine run.
I feel much better now that I know it's a normal sound.
Ive noticed this sound too.So its basicly a turbo fart. One this do our trucks have wastegates? If not this is the reason for this sound?
Egg-xactly... no wastegate,
so nowhere for the substantial turbo boost it's built up to go when the throttle is chopped is except back out the least resistance - the intake....
Wanna fix it ?
Don't slow down - just run em over if they stop on YOUR road
