hey i recently purcahsed a 01 f350 7.3L. after reading about it a little in the owners manual it says to read the door label to see all the specs for the truck. i searched all four doors with no label to be found.
Ive been told these are a required label to have and need to find a replacement. so how do i find this label and have it be correct for my truck. dont know if the door was replaced or just sticker removed, fell off.
thanks.
if im in the wrong section please redirect to proper area.
i was just curious to know. its funny you mention the center post between to door. i didnt look there. ill check it in the morning. i checked the outer edge of the door, inside edge with the hinges on all 4 doors but didnt look at the center post between them. dont know why. simple oversight i guess. hopes its there.
thanks
On a crew cab it should be on that center post. If its gone you cant get a replacement from ford if its over 5 year old since the computer data base loses the data for that truck at least thats what ford has told me when i tried to get one for a 99 not too long ago lol,
well its missing alright. rats im a little out of that 5 year mark. ill put in a call monday and see what i can get.
Contact your local Ford Dealer to verify whether you can order an exact new label...or not.
For many years, it was possible to order a new label for a vehicle that was less than 11 years old.
If the label can still be obtained, you will need to appear in person at the dealer with your truck and proof of ownership.
Proof of ownership: The registration will have the VIN on it. The VIN is also on a label which is on the drivers side front corner of the dashboard, visible thru the windshield.
In some states, the police have to inspect the vehicle first before a new Certification Label can be ordered from FoMoCo.
btw: The label is white and glued on, and is designed so it cannot just be peeled off, without damaging it.
If the label is missing without a shred of evidence it was ever there, the truck may have been in an accident, the door post was replaced.
The other possible scenario is...it was removed on purpose by someone...and you know what that could mean....
I used this place a few years ago for one of my many "Johnny Cash Pickups" (got it one piece at a time) 2001 F350. It isn't exactly like stock (corner radius is a little different) but it looks good, sticks good, and at least puts the VIN, GVW, color/axle/ tire info where it should be.
