I don't personally like tatoo's but that's not the point here. I would just like to say about a personal experience with them that I've heard. One of my friends at school (a girl) had a boyfriend that went to a different school and he was 18 I believe. Anyways, he was drunk one night at a party and went to get a tatoo... He wanted his birthday on his right upper arm. His birthday was 3-25-83 and he told the tatoo artist 3-24-83! So he now has the wrong b-day on his right arm. Quite the dork. Moral of the story: dont' drink and get tatoo's at the same time
After being in the MARINES I ended up with a Grim Reaper on my upper left arm. I was going to have the phrase "Death Before Dishonor" put around it. (The former Marines will understand). I dont regret getting my tattoo, because I like it. Decide for yourself. If you decide to get one, get what "you" want. As far as the pain, the outline will feel like pinching your skin, if you get color its usually numb by then.

the funny thing is i was in the Marines and still have many friends in, and i still know of nobody that served in the Corp that does not have a tat!! my best friend has one leg sleeve done and the other near done and both arms done... no that is WAYYYY to much for even my taste but hey to each his/her own!!
just my $.02
I have 3. One is around 20 years old, a tattoo of the state of Texas; I recently had it recolored while I was getting my most charished one. I had the tattoo artist blend my childrens names (3) into a tribal arm band. The other one is of my United States Navy rating symbol that I had tattooed into the web of my hand. I have a digital pic of 2 if anyone wants a copy.
Vampiro, I don't have a tatoo myself, so I really can tell you much about them. The other guys who have replied to your post, have pretty much covered all the bases.I'm from the old school(39 y.o.a.)and back when I was young it wasn't as "cool" to have a tatoo. When I was growing up very few guys even wore earrings. And if you wore one in your right ear people might question your sexual preferences.(If you know what I mean.)I know it's not fair, but people seem to sterotype others that have tatoos, or body piercings. I would have to really believe in something, and want to display it forever, if I were to get a tatoo. Some of the guys who have been in the military have their branch of service displayed. These guys have earned that right and should be proud of the disipline and knowledge that they aquired as a serviceman. If they decide to wear that badge, that's cool with me. Also, the tribal dudes may want to advertise their heritage, which is also cool. American Indians are spiritual people and should be proud of their background. Myself, I have nothing that I would want to advertise, unless it involved the Lord. I think that I'll just remain tatoo free. You'll make the right choice. I've read a lot of your posts, and you've got a good mind. Take care my Brothers, and be cool. I'm OUT. DARBY :7
A couple years back, I saw a really big and in my opinion strange tattoo. It was a warm sunny day and this guy on a bicycle passed me while I was at a light in my F250. He was shirtless since like I said it was warm. He had his spinal column tattoo'd on his back, from the back of his skull down into his crack as far as I could see. I did a double take since it was odd to see a very detailed spinal column on his back. Not something you glance at and pass on. I wonder if he plans to continue with the rest of his skeleton? I hope he still likes it when he is a lot older.
Very strange and definitely not my taste. There are lots of really nice and pretty tattoos out there but this one was strange, but then I am pretty much a white bread white straight male so I am probably not the norm now a days.
I have 4 tatoos Both soulders right chest(that one really hurt)One that covers my whole back of a Indian girl siiting on a rock by a lake with a wolf sitting on her lap with wolf pups running around them mountains in the back ground. My brother has full back, both arms one leg started on other and chest covered. nether one of us have anything sadistic(sp?)mostly Indian stuff and animals. The first one is the hardest after that they come pretty easy. Make sure when you choose someone that they can show you pictures of there work if they can,t go somewhere else. The guy that does ares does exellent work. Don't drink alcahol before you go will make you bleed more.(not much blood other wise)The place we go won't tatoo you if you have been drinking,or if your not 18 parents permission or not won,t do you.Depends where you get it as far as hurting arms are a piece of cake.Upper back not bad either. If you make it through the first 5 minutes its all down hill from there. We go for 2 to 3 hours at a sitting depending on how big the tatoo. And yes we do get deals. My back cost me 750 dollars and he designed the whole thing. My next one is going to be a portrat(sp?) of my two boys. Wish you luck and don't worry you well do fine.
An interesting article in today's Oregonian newspaper about removing tattoos. Here is the URL for the web version. Don't know how long they keep these things on file. Today's date is March 28,2002
both of ym sisters got them, neither one really likes them anymore either...but i don't think they thought out what or where they wanted very much
