new tattoo ideas

well i am getting the ink fever again and i am having trouble deciding on what i want. i need a little artistic direction. what i am going for is a piece that represents a stage of my life that im in now, i am going through a lot of "growing up" and i want something that represents me kind of breaking out of other people controling my life. My idea thus far is an egg that is hatching with a small dragon coming out, as if the dragon is breaking out of its shell to face the world. This is kind of on the lines of what i want but i am still open to other ideas, so i need all of yall to help me churn the ideas around in my head.

Oh and im pretty sure that it is going on my right shoulder blade. the size i am thinking is around 4x4 maybe bigger or smaller depending on detail level and 99.9% sure it will be black and grey

How about a pack of matches With the whole thing on fire and starting to catch Some kind of a rule book on fire or other symbol of control!! The matchbook thing is pretty cool looking I saw a guy with a burning match pack and it looked awesome not many people even think about matches anymore, Remember bitd lighting fires with a match book with a match stuck out the side for a time delay!! Maybe it was just me!! I was a pyro!!! Fire consuming is a powerful thing!! I do not have a single tattoo so maybe I aint the best to give you ideas, but Fire is always a good visual!!

You can always tatoo an "M" on each butt cheek...then when you bend over it will spell MOM..or if you stand on your hands it will spell WOW.

I'm getting the fever again too and it hasn't even been a year since I got my first one. My best friend told me they were addicting and I didn't believe her. Now I know different. Mine's the story of my life up until this point and has room for changes as my life changes. It's a wolf howling at the moon done in full color. There are clouds over the full moon, the sliver type that makes you think of werewolves or halloween or something. One of them is shaped like a cupped hand and it's holding a sleeping baby. The words above it are Cherokee and the english phonetic spelling is Uwasa Wahya which roughly translates to "the wolf who walks alone" or "lone wolf" The actual characters are the original Cherokee syllabary that was written by Sequoia instead of the typographical version that was created later sometime. Nearly everyone I know says they regret their first one but I took four years to get all the pieces of mine together. I didn't really look, just when it came to me I knew it belonged and when I found the Cherokee I knew it was complete for this stage. *I'm also part Cherokee*

I think it's cool to get a tatt that means something to you. If you're anything like me you'll know it's right when you see it. It'll strike you that this image says what you want to say, what you want people to know when they look at it. Let us know what you come up with!

Been through this for the last month with my wife.

What should I get? How big should it be? Where should it be? Are you sure this is ok? Did I get it in the wrong spot? Does it look good? Did I pay too much? Should I have gotten the other one? How come I cannot see the blue? Why don't you care about it?

Just get what you want and roll with it.

I think Connie (ford4life69) is on the right track, you'll know thats what you want to get as soon as you see the idea. I wouldn't decide on a whim though, tats are hard to remove. I'm like I6power, I've got a great idea to but I'm still expanding on it so I won't share just yet

well i can say this much, i definatly do not regret my first one. its a wrench with a rose growing around it and it it on the left side of my chest right over my heart. i got it for my little girl, when she first started cutting teeth at a few months old i gave her a craftsman 9/16 wrench and she would play with that thing and chew on it for hours at a time. i think i'm going to get her name and birthday over it one day. thats for another day tho.

Blue Beast i like your idea of the fire theme but i just don't think thats right for this one. i am really leaning hard toward the dragon egg thing, i think i'll stop by the tattoo shop one day and have the girl thats gonna do it draw me some sketches to ponder on.

I, like you, do not regret my first tattoo. Just make sure it is something personal. I feel that the majority of people who regret their tattoos just walked into a shop and picked something on the wall. If you make it personal or did the art work, it will have less of a tendancy to degrade in your mind. Also, going with ANY latest fads will certainly make you regret your decision at some point, i.e; something akin to a tramp stamp or tribal.

Tattoos are fun and adictive...like the pain of the tatt...ooohhh I've said too much, nevermind.

First off, no disrespect to those who are into tattoos, but I could never see myself getting one. I'm just not into body art and while I can look at the work that is done and truly appreciate the artistry behind it, I have yet to see one that I honestly though enhanced the human body's appearance. Again, not a critic, just a statement. I often wonder what the good tatto artists could in a more convential medium for expression--would it transfer? Just curious.

I think that most artists could probably make it another medium of art. They don't just put some ink into peoples skin, they have to draw out all of the custom by hand. Everybody has seen the insanly complicated/detailed tattoos that some people have, the artist had to draw out the piece by hand first, it takes real talent to do that. Just my thoughts though.

lol irishammer... not bad.
someone close to me, used to be a meth-head, would spend days drawing. Drew the most kickass stuff I've ever seen. Not what you had in mind, but one he showed me was a cool skull with an indian head dress, and some flames. Looked like it was flying off the paper... Anyway he sobered up about 10 years ago, and can't draw the same anymore.
who says drugs don't pay?!?!?
Spare me te lectures I know the negative side of it all.
Personally I haven't got one yet. Never found anything I KNEW I would like FOREVER...Someday maybe.
Love the site. later.l

the ink is addicting (i think they're putting cocain in it or somethin) i was right in your shoes man, i went through a rough time and i feel like i'm getting a fresh start, and after doing some research and reading a few fables i decided to get a phoenix, from what i understand the mythical bird could ignite itself and rise from the ashes to be reborn.. and they look cool

only problem with a back tattoo is u dont get to enjoy it all that much, unless ur realllly flexible..

i kind of got mine done in a tribal mix there's a picture of it on my myspace page if the link works, click on my pictures
