Im looking for a 428 or 460 to replace the blown 351m in my new mud truck. It can be in any shape as long as the block and heads are good.. Atleast be rebuildable. I got about a Grand laying around to spend on this. I wouldnt mind finding 2 so i can replace the one in my 78 F-150 too. I prefer a 428 for the 78 Then a 460 for the Mud truck. Email me if you have anything.. Thanks James.
Wait, I thought 428 and 460 had the same bell houseing. My buddy told me his truck had a 428.. i decoded the VIn on it turned out to be a 400m.. lol.. Im mostly looking for a 460 anyway.. dought i could find a 428 or 460.. So i would want a 429 instead? I dont think ive ever even seen a 429. Thanks James.
The 429 was the next big muscle car engine after the 428. The 428 has the same basic design as the 352, 360, 390, 427 etc... The 429 will look like a 460. The 428 looks nothing like either. The best way to tell that your friends truck does not have a 428 is to look at the spark plugs. A 428 has angled plugs that look like this: / / \ \
Alrighty, My dad was telling theres no way its a 428 since it was so little. I knew a 428 would be bigger. Well i quess im lookign fro a 429 or 460 now. I might of found a 85 F-250 460.. But it has emissions junk, I would rather find a older one. James.
