I've had a code 332,EGR valve opening not detected, for sometime and cannot find the cause. I have replaced both a sensor, the one with the two hoses to the exhaust manifold, and a solenoid for the EGR valve. Removed and cleaned the EGR valve and Intake manifold ports and vacuum tested the EGR valve to insure that it is working. Cleared codes several times but still the check engine light comes back on intermittently with the same code stored in memory.
Anybody have any ideas what else would trigger this code?
Kind regards, Keith
Check and see if either of the 2 hoses going to the DPFE sensor are clogged. They are usally clogged with a white hard substance. This is common and can usually be cleaned with a little gum cutter and some shop air blown through it.
I concur ... the DPFE sensor is often the culprit in unexplained EGR problems. There are some simple multi-meter tests that can be done to get a ball-park idea of whether or not the DPFE sensor is operating correctly. Unfortunately, it's been a while since I've done this and I can't remember the specifics of the test. Search the threads and the procedure may be found in an earlier post. If I can remember what to do I'll repost.
Ooops, just noticed that from you post it sounds like you've replaced the DPFE sensor already. Take the other guy's advice and clean the hoses to the DPFE. Also, check the hoses for any kinks or unnecessary tight bends. That can throw off the sensor readings as well.
Yes I have replaced the DPFE sensor and the two rubber hoses. I also used compressed air to blow out the metal tubes from the exhaust manifold as well. When the engine is running, their is definitely air pressure coming out of the tubes and hoses. I just cleared the codes today but code 332 still comes back and haunts me.
