I keep getting code 332, EGR valve opening not detected. I have replace the EGR valve, The EGR solinoid, the DPFE, the ECT, cleaned the EGR rail, and cleaned the MAF. When I drive it for about 2 miles the check engine light comes on . It will go off under high acceleration for a few min and come back on as soon as you start to cruise. I do not know where else to look. This is very frustrating. HELP!!!!!!
Poknox, I would look for a leaking vacuum hose somewhere in the EGR system. It sounds like everythings new, but there's not enough vacuum signal to operate. Maybe a hose has craked or come loose ........
My X is a 94. I will look for a leaking hose. Strange thing happened last night. We went to Sonic for supper. Sat in the X and waited Temp went up to mid range and light went off. Started for home and the temp gage started to drop to what we know as normal ( Just above cold in the normal range.). The light stayed out until it got back to what we know as normal. Could a stuck open thermostat cause this?
It's possible. The EGR is not supposed to operate when the engine is in open loop/cold. Maybe the stuck open thermostat is confusing the PCM as to when the EGR is supposed to be operating??????
I previously had an erratic high idle with mine, and no MIL. It turned out to be because of a stuck open thermostat. Thermostats are easy and cheap to change, so it might be worth a new one just to rule it out. The stock Motorcrafts (made in Germany) seem to be failure-prone, so I would suggest a Stant brand for replacement.
