with my problems i had in a previous post of not pulling a code and no MIL
light on with a OBD II scanner, i pulled my pcm to get the part # off of it
and low and behold i find a Hypertech Chip Plugged into the
Service port.
Now, here i thought my truck was stock and ran so good, no i see i am chipped!
Can this chip be my problem of the hiccup while driving??
ANd is this why i was getting codes 603 and 605 for bad ram/ rom?
If it ran good with the chip in and you found no corrosion on the chip or pcm I wouldn't think it was the chip. What have you found in codes since the chip removal?
The way the chip attaches to the circuit board inside the pcm is merely a tension mount. After bouncing around, the chip can merely work it's way loose, to where it's not making good contact. Reinstall it, and be sure it's seated properly on the circuit board. To be sure it doesn't move around, secure it with duct tape.
thanks
i also noticed i do not have a mount in the back of the computer, so the computer
can move around it looks like..What am i missing in the back behind the
emergency brake

The same problem happened to me when i first bought my truck used. Although, i tried to program it with a chip in and then had big problems. Took the pcm out to get # and found chip. All is good now.
Ive been running the programer for almost a year now and am curious about temps with chip ( i now have gauges). Could someone refresh my memory on the install process of a chip? Thanks.
