VIN updates?

I posted my VIN and was wondering if you guys had any information. I had three clients in my truck yesterday and my truck started missing, sputtering and jumping trying to get through a red light. I can now say that they won't be buying any F250 for a while and (1) was thinking of trading in his 2500 for a Ford.

I don't have access to a VIN lookup...
but have you done the first thing most would do ?
asked a dealer to look at it ? What you have sounds like something that the coding fixed a LONG time ago - like last year if I recall?

Just like with all new computer programs, there was some tweaking that was done after initial release...

Mine runs like a CHAMP...
and I had 4 out of towners with me last night... two D-Max owners, a BMW with a chip owner, and a s-2000? owner...

All of them were impressed.... one even said "Man, wish I would got this instead of the d-max!"

Rpharr: Haven't you posted this issue before?

What is your dealer saying?

Do they have a certified diesel tech?

Have you tried another service dept?

By my recollection surging etc can be an across the board issue with '03 & '04 build 6.0s. Many different fixes from reflashes to poorly seated "O" rings.

Take it to someone that knows what their doing and is willing to investigate & solve your problem. Take a list of fixes from previous threads and help your techs out.

Good luck.

My dealer is certified but they are telling me they don't have the flash right now to fix it. This is my 2nd 6.0 liter sold the 2003 because DSB-Atlanta would not help me out with the other one after I fought it with being in a rental car for 11 times while it was in the shop. I thought maybe it was a problem with the 03' but boy was I wrong. All the problems can not be good for the motors or tranny. Who pays for the DSB and if they reject the problems are they compensated by the motor company.

Did you guys know that every vehicle sold (based on a $25,000 vechicle) that the motor company puts $4000 in a fund to go for warranty problems. After the warranty is up on that vehicle they get the money back for that vechicle. So if 1 out of 10 has some warranty issues they are making a pile on the other 9 that different have problems.

I posted my VIN but it was removed earlier by a mod who is checking on it.

You keep mentioning flashes Rpharr. Is that where your dealer stops? Are they investigating any other possible mechanical causes?

I don't mean to a pain...just trying to help.
FYI: A specified % of mark up, on most products sold, is attributed to future warranty / return cost.

If you problem is exactly as described, have you tried fuel conditioner and replacing your fuel filer. My 99 did the exact thing you described and a new fuel filter and fuel conditioner cured it 100%

They have not done any more than that! I am going to go to another dealer.

Brand new truck only 5000 miles got in May special order, so no fuel problems but have added conditoner.

All it takes is one fill one time with a bit of grit in it to make trouble.
