Has anyone found a good altermative to the stock shifter? I have a c
C6 behind a mildly modified 400 in my 79 4x4 shorty. When trying to manually shift it it seems awkward and not real precise. I was wondering if there is anyone who used a floor type shifter thatworked well and did'nt look like crap when it was done.
After my column shift broke the second time. I purchased a B&M Light Truck Mega Shifter. They have a tall base for trucks, so you don't have to bendover
at all to shift. It's a simple one cable instalation and it has a lighted indicator so you can see what gear your in even at night. You can just raise the little triger on the T handle and pull it back into drive for normal driving or you can pull it back into low and bang thru the gears one at time. You have worry free reverse lockout and it really looks nice too.
I used mine in a 76 250 2wd with a C6 & 460 and I plan to move it on over to the right of the transfer case shifter in my 77 Highboy truck too. You can probably go to the Summit racing or Jegs website and check them out. There a little pricey at about $160 or better but worth it. Hope this helps.
