Every couple of years I check with 2 or 3 other company's and No one has been able to come close to what I am paying now with Nationwide. I have been with them since '87.
I have got quotes from geico a few times and those people as absolutely nuts. They wanted 4000 to 4500 for the same coverage I was getting at my agent for 700 and I thought I was paying too much there.
I got the same thing when I was looking into motorcycle insurace. They wanted $2500 for a pleasure bike and I have been riding for 7 years and no accident or tickets. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm NO
I am female and have a very clean driving record. For my 92 Ford, I pay $196 a month and for my 94 Blazer I pay $220 a month. QUOTE]
I would say you are getting SERIOUSLY ripped off, especially since you probably dont even have collison coverage, just liability, if you do carry collision coverage, why? Those vehicles are barely worth what you are paying in a year to insure them..
The blazer I would agree with you on. But not the Ford. And yes, Collision coverage on both. I wouldn't insure without it on any of my vehicles. Remember, Arizona has the highest reported thefts of pick ups, vans and suv's because of its proximity to the border. If your truck, van or suv gets stolen there, you might be lucky to find it in Mexico. But, don't count on recovery of the vehicle. So, I still say I got a bargain.
169$ a month 2001 echo 2000 excursion 1959 ford pu for two drivers
full on echo and ex with everything at some of the highest limits you can get. I wanted to be overcovered than under. partial on 59. I have the max on unisured, liabilty collision etc. I dont know the exact numbers off the top of my head. I have full rental towing etc. my deductible is 250.00 50.00 glass.
Geico is not bad. I think alot of drivers with a bad history or are at risk want them to insure them cheaply. But I think they weed out the bad ones and charge the risky ones higher amounts to protect those of us who have great records. I have 3 kids who are military (including exes kids) and they have never had a problem with Geico.

To each his/her own I guess, but I still think that is an outrageous amount. If you were 17 and the 92 Ford you speak of is a Cobra Mustang, and you lived in NJ, then maybe but otherwise you should really shop around. Figure what you would get for your Blazer if you wrecked it, 4K maybe? How much of your 220$ bill is collision? 80 maybe? 80x12 = 960/yr premium for a 4K payoff, Im guessing on the numbers obviously, but it sounds bad..Its like the $79 warranty I declined on my 299$ TV.. Its worse still when you figure any claim you make on collision will cause your rates to go even higher.. Just my $0.02
Well let's think about this. Am I the only insured listed the policies? No. My figures insure ME. My EX. And my Son. That's on both vehicles. There's an additional insurance policy for the HARLEY at $79. per month. Also full coverage. I have to agree with Quarterhorsemom, I would rather be over-insured than under insured. Look at it logically. If I have all the toys on my policy, and let's say my EX hits someone. Then the insurance covers it ALL. Now without all the toys on the policies, If the blazer is under-insured and Ex hits someone. Then EX and I have to come up with the difference that the insurance didn't cover. Such as any medical bills and loss of income for both parties, any items of value that may have been damaged that were in either vehicle. Any passengers who may suffered any injuries in either vehicle.
Long and short of it............I would rather pay $100 to $150 more than I have to to protect myself from having to pay THOUSANDS in the event of an accident.
I'm sure there are plenty of fly by night insurers out there that might be less expensive than what I pay now. But, many of which fold and run when you need them and don't stand behind their loyal customers. I've tried state farm. Way too expensive.
The same thing with allstate. And a couple of others. I came across Geico and have stayed with them ever since. The longer I'm with them and the longer I continue to be a safe driver, the cheaper my rates get. As it was said earlier, To each his own.
PS. It's a 92 Ford White F150 Flareside. Chrome mag wheels, even on the spare. Custom bed cover. Trimmed with all the little do dads in Black. Former show truck. You bet I'm going to protect it. 'Nuff Said
Although I'll NEVER understand all the stupid ways insurance works, I do OK compared to some of you guys! $165 a month for full coverage on 2003 Sable, 95 F250 PSD, 88 5.0 Mustang AND my house policy through State Farm. To be fair, the Mustang has the low milage rate {under 2500 mi a year} and both the PSD and 5.0 have $1000 collision deductable. I have been with SF since 1977 and have had few claims so far! 13 y.o. son will inherit Mustang to drive in 2 1/2 years so this low cost ride will be over then for sure!
What I don't get at all, why do I pay for 3 cars when we only have 2 drivers in the family?? I can't drive 2 cars at once?!?!
Don't get me started on using non OEM collision parts on my car when a repair is needed!
Collision only pays for damage YOU (or someone else on the policy) cause to YOUR car in an accident that is YOUR fault. Damage to others peoples cars, property, and health is covered by liability, damage to your car caused by someone else is covered by uninsured motorist coverage or the at fault drivers liability coverage. Therefore, collision coverage on a 10+ yr old car is generally a waste of money.
Cmionske I get a discount just about every year. They are a great insurance company. They are on the ball. I cant see leaving them. If it aint broke dont try to fix it.
I agree with you quarterhorsemom. I don't have to shop around to find lower rates. They keep decreasing the longer I'm with them. It only took 3 days to get my blazer repaired and didn't cost more than only half of the deductible in the long run.
If they're good to me, then they can have my business. I will say this though, they are more than likely a woman owned business. My ex still can't get the insurance anywhere with him as the primary at a rate that isn't triple what mine is. Even at that, If I didn't put him on the insurance, my rates would go down significantly. They said to half what I pay now. So, I still say I got the better deal than a lot of these horror stories I'm hearin'.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I agree, the more time that you have a policy the lower it will go. Mine strated out at about $2000 per year at 22 and a ranger, but when I got married, moved over 30, got a house and have life insurace with the same company the payout had gotten lower. I also have a $500 deductalble on everything and total coverage with auto.
No offense to anyone but what is often cheapest does not always turn out to be the best. I had a laptop stolden from my office and (working at a school they cover nothing) was told to tell my insurance it was in my truck and they broke in and took it out. I said I would not do that and Called. USAA only asked why I did not have a police report and I told them that the district was thinking about their policy. I sent in documentation stating I had put $1800 into the computer, but they sent me a check for $2200 for my time and effort. Just a thought
