i move accross town it goes up 50$, i move 5 miles accross a street zip code and it jumps a hundred bucks. i am paying almost three hundred a month and it is ridiculous. i drive a bread/cake truck 40 hours a week and i believe comercial drivers are the best there are if they choose to be, truckers, delivery, etc, because of the day to day situation experience. its just crazy i get charged what a average 22 year old would get charged. its the old rule of thumb that a few irresponsible people ruin it for us all. you know your daughter being military has a good sense of discipline and responsibility, so why is she getting charged what a irresponsible drinkin and drivin , street racing, no job havin, etc etc driver is? same as me, i have about the same responsibility as a adult many years older, job, wife, kid, mortgage, military history, etc, why am i being treated like a punk? insurance...dont even get me going on medical, or etc etc...its all a scam that you are at the mercy of. you know what i could do with the extra 6-800 a month that goes out in insurance alone.....buy diapers, buy groceries, etc.
it all has a whole lot more to than age and location to fix rates. they have our money so far tied up in investment it aint funny, that when our new economic plan kicked in and our economy got sour, their money had to come from some where, couldnt come out of their pocket or bottom line. and what investor wants to invest in a people with no money? i guess. how could they buy that condo and add to their brats trust fund. i need diapers, food, blue jeans etc and a few simple things, who can i charge? should i send them a bill? why dont the putzs just start putting "chubby side actions jewelry" on our insurance invoice? maybe i am getting too far into it, i am bored. my plan wasnt to offend, just rant a bit about a injustice on society.
later and take it easy guys

Just read an article a minute ago that says Geico is returning to NJ...glad to see there are more options, but you'll have to excuse my lack of enthusiasm (It's still too expensive, Geico or not)

I have got quotes from geico a few times and those people as absolutely nuts. They wanted 4000 to 4500 for the same coverage I was getting at my agent for 700 and I thought I was paying too much there.

Insurance agencies are like organized crime. What a scam. I cant even buy the vehicle i want because the insurance will cost more than the vehicle.

Has anyone here or anyone you know ever saved money by switching to Geico. I don't know how they stay in business.

Since you mention Geico, I will put my .02 cents in. I recently got my renewal from Progressive Ins. $1290 for 6 months, for my 90 Ranger, and 99 Jeep Wrangler, suburb of Wilmington, De. I contacted Geico, and got a quote of $588 for 6 months, for both vehicles. I called to make sure it wasn't a mistake, and it was correct! I signed on the dotted line, and got the paperwork in the mail. Savings of over $700. No complaints here.

My wife had Geico, and when she brought her truck over to State Farm with all of my vehicles, she saved a ton of money. Most insurance companies have what they call a "preferred customer". This is the person who never files a claim, and always pays on time. The first claim you file, whether it be for a cracked windshield (road damage) or an accident, you are removed from that list and placed with the dregs of society. For those who think they'd have more money without insurance, just wait until you get sued for 150K or more. Then you'll be wishing you had paid that 1200 per year. My father worked with a guy who only carried 50k liability on his car. He got sued for 150K. guess who makes up the difference? You. It was not a pretty sight. Unfortunately, with the high number of totally irresponsible screw-ups out there, insurance is a painful necessity.

Low population is the key. The less idiots you have on the road living around you, the less chance of one of them killing someone or wrecking 100K worth of vehicles. Get rid of the idiots, and insurance gets cheap. Unfortunately, we have to wait while the idiots get rid of themselves! Also, if you hit someone expect your rates to go up until approximately half of the claim has been paid. It may be more, may be less than half, but you're gonna pay.

Its still not clear who the company in question is but I can tell you this: I'd rather switch to chevys than switch from USAA to any other company and Im pretty sure Im not alone on that one..They are interested in serving their customers, not seeing how big a profit they can make at their customers expense. As far as $700 more, that is surprising in ND, but Im no insurance expert, possibly around large bases there are many young, bad dirvers and high accident rates, Im just speculating, but I do know that it is where the car is physically located that will determine some portion of the rate.

Please read the whole thing before you pass judgement on anything I've typed. Okay. I admit it. I have two vehicles insured through Geico. I am female and have a very clean driving record. For my 92 Ford, I pay $196 a month and for my 94 Blazer I pay $220 a month. Now, right after I got that Blazer, my daughter went to put something in it and walked up on someone who felt that they needed that thing more than I did. They took off running and I called the Police. They shattered the drivers side window and tore the column to shreds. I gave the police report number and info the Geico and gave them the deductible. They took care of everything including the rental car and tow expenses. No my rates didn't go up and that was ARIZONA. I guess I'm the exception with insurance companies. I know if the policies listed my stb-Ex as a primary driver, I would be paying double what I currently pay. Then again, he has the limit of points against his CDL license because of his tickets for speeding and redlight running. Improper lane changes and log book issues. And who knows what else. Yes, I also have a different advantage, I'm not a 24 year old either. I'm 37. And yes, I paid those outlandish rates when I was YOUNGER. I've been driving since I was 18 and treated my license as the privelage it was. Yes, I do believe that insurance companies discriminate against society. I would love to see someone stick it to them for all the years I spent beyond budget to pay those ???? rates. And all the things I had to do without to pay them because in Arizona insuring your vehicle is the law. You ge tpuuled over and don't have it, they take your plates. No questions asked.
I would think though that they would at least be a little more generous with our military sons and daughters. Afterall, it's our children keeping them safe so they can keep getting fat and rich off of OUR hard earned sweat.

I am a 16 year old boy and my rates are $2400 a year or $200 a month through state farm on a 2000 Ford Ranger ext. cab V-6 4x4 and before my name was on the policy my step dads name was on there and he is 34 yrs. old and its was only $800 a year so it tripled on me. And my step dad totalled many cars in his past.

you get what you pay for

i pay 800 CAN$ a year for both my pickup and the maliboom. , we looked at a new, small car as a way to save gas but just wasn't worth it when you add up the payments and the extra insurance. 1200 CAN$/year i think was the quote for a your average japanese econobox.

property liability is low here cuz people have cheap little cars and drive them to death. if your car is cheap and not likely to fix or replace you'll save the most money there. if you get a lot of tickets the public liability plan will raise you maybe a couple hundred bucks. you'll lose your license before you go broke paying for insurance

it's cheap but our public auto insurance severely limits the amount you get for personal injuries. not much fun if you get messed up by some drunk or lunatic who'se had several tickets already and have to remodel your house for your wheelchair with a 50,000$ settlement.

I would say you are getting SERIOUSLY ripped off, especially since you probably dont even have collison coverage, just liability, if you do carry collision coverage, why? Those vehicles are barely worth what you are paying in a year to insure them..

Well I hate to be the one but here I go. I have had geico for 15+ years now and I just called around and they were the cheapest. USAA who carries our home ins couldnt beat them. Progressive had to bow out. State farm was 60% higher on the exact dollar amounts of coverage. Geico is excellent about paying out if you are in a wreck your fault or not. The only real gripes i have had are that when I backed out of the drive way in my 2 day old custom aerostar van (i was turning it around) and the passenger door was open and i caught it on the porch post and bent the door to the front fender and totally tweaked the front end the repairs were 4,800 and the paid it immediately but then raised my rates until I repaid a certain percentage and then they lowered them back down. They also were kinda flakey on a mechanical breakdown coverage incident that came up but they ended up taking care of it. I have ranted and raved with them but they have come through. I have more coverage than you can imagine. I have two umbrella policies and some of the highest coverage you can get. I insure a 2001 Echo, my 2000 EX and my 59 p/u. I also think the Gecko is so dang adorable.
I am sure it all comes down to personal experience and not all insurance companies are going to be liked by everyone. That is why there are so many. I can remember my dad having nothing but problems with state farm but he would not do away with it because his dad was with them forever and he had been with them since he began driving. He was totally committed to them from habit.
