Shift from park to drive

My transmission seems to take longer than normal to shift from park to drive. I have had the transmission flushed, filled and the filter replaced. I also had the shop scan the transmission for any codes that may have been triggered. They claimed that there was none. They also checked the adjustment of the shift cable and said that it was adjusted correctly. The shop said that was all they could do. What could be causing this?

I forgot to mention that it is in a 2000 expedition with a 5.3.

I don't have experience on those truck years, but the basic test will help, just take oil pressure readings, maybe there is a low press. condition.

That can be caused by a shop with people who don't know what they're doing. The solution is to take it to another shop.

Should I tell the new shop what the other shop had told me? Or should I go to the next shop as having nothing done to the tranny?

I'd go in and say nothing has been done with it so far. That way they can't just blame it on the other guys if they don't feel like fixing it.

I hope you are taking it to a Ford dealer and not transmission shops. Transmission shops are some of the worse rip-off places ever.
