hi there i got an 84 half ton replaces u joint in front but not to sure how things go back in hub i have a book but all it has in it is automatic hubs i have lock in lock out hubs where would i go about finding this or do they have a book out there i should get
Well if you have the bearings and lock collars in, you first place the spring over the shaft, then place the internal hub piece with the locking part (part you can push in and out) next, you will have to fight with it to get both sets of splines lined up and while holding it in place, place the smaller snap ring in place(need snap ring pliers to do this) then once in place, put the bigger snap ring in place (just push in place, might need a screwdriver) then place the remaing piece in place being sure to line up 6 bolt holes. All in all it should take you about 10-15 minutes a side to complete. You might have to pull the shaft out to get those snap rings in place.
If you have already taken it apart then it all goes back in the same way. If you haven't then when you take it apart lay it all out on a table in order of taking out. I haven't messed with an autolock in a while but I believe thier really isn't much difference except for the end of the hub where on yours is the lock out selector. If you go by your local Ford dealer they can probably print you out a diagram of this, it should be the same from 80-96 on the F-150.
