Hey everyone, just saying hello. I'm new to Ford, traded my GMC for an '84 F-150 2wd.
Here's the fun part: the truck came with a 300, 4spd. and the previous owner swapped in a '78 302 w/ C4 from an LTD coupe.
Good times so far, only thing I've added is a cheap mechanical temp. gauge. (The only one that worked when I picked the truck up was gas gauge)
Add a couple of 90-degree bends on the radiator hoses and a remote oil filter, and it runs. Slow, but running!
I'm taking a wild guess that that the old sensors are not going to work with the cluster.. correct me if I'm wrong, and feel free to share the wire colors for the senders if you like
You will need to determine whether the sensors on the 302 are of the switch type or analog sensors. Does your instrument cluster have gages or idiot lights?

-BTW Welcome to FTE!
thanks for the reply, the truck has gauges, no idea about the donor car though.
the temp sensor I pulled out of the 302 didn't match the part for an '84 truck with 302, something like $3 vs $20..
I haven't checked out the oil pressure sensor yet, Any easy way to tell visually?
