97' F-150 4.6L. I keep getting a check engine light with an EGR flow problem code (Autozone). I've replaced the EGR sensor and the valve and am still getting the error code. Any suggestions.
Did you clean the tube. Maybe not, but I think there is a tube going to the intake. I read somewhere that they can get pretty dirty and effect the flow.
That may be the problem. Valve was pretty gunked up. I'll have to check if the tube is removable from the exhaust pipe. Not sure how to go about cleaning it though. Tube is about 1/4" in diameter.
You probably need to go ahead and remove the throttle body
housing and clean the egr ports where the valve connects.
The tube coming off the valve gets dirty too, but not like as bad as
the ports do. I would bet money the ports are completely
closed up with carbon buildup. Do a search on threads explaining
this condition. It happens almost without fail to 4.6, mine is a '97 4.6,
cleared the code by cleaning the ports.
