P0401 Code Insufficient amount EGR
I have a 98 Expedition 4.6 that I get a P0401 code Insufficent amount EGR. When I clear the code it takes about 200 miles before it returns. I did some research and the most likely problem is either DPFE sensor, EGR tube blockage, EGR valve, lack of vaccuum. Any suggestions where to start? Thanks for any help.

Or your EGR passages in the manifold could be partially plugged. I's start by checking the EGR flow with the engine at idle. Either open the EGR valve by hooking a vacuum pump to it or see if you can lift the EGR valve by hand (don't burn your fingers!). If the engine runs rough or stalls when you open the EGR valve you probably don't have a plugged passage. I'd then focus on the DPFE. Just my $.02 . . . . .

It appears I need to remove the upper intake to gain access to the EGR on my 01 Navigator. (Unless it's possible to squeeze in between the intake and firewall.)
Is there any way to blow out the lines/passages without removing the EGR?
