yet another problem :( tranny cooling line leaking
the forward portion of the tranny fluid cooling line is starting to leak (corrosion). it looks to be a pain in the *** to replace the entire line - from rad to tranny, snaking around the engine block. i just need to replace the forward portion of the line... can i use hoses instead or do must i replace the entire line instead?
my apologies if the question sounds trival... again thanks in advance!

Mojo Hobo here
I don't exactly know where your line is broken but if you have a tranny cooler you will notice they use hose so I don't see why you couldn't use hose. The only thing that could be a problem is if it is close to high heat near the exhaust, not sure how much heat a hose can take and the cosequenses if fluid hitting the exhaust, possible fire? Another suggestion may be finding a union made out of metal but you will need a flareing tool depending on the type of fitting, anyways keep us posted, and good luck.
ok... went to the parts store and bought some length of fuel hose rated to 50psi. did as mojo hobo suggested. replaced both forward portion of the tranny line (rusted through) with hoses instead. started up the van and checked for leaks. no leaks. i'm hoping the tranny cooler line does not see any pressure higher than 50psi... or i might end up with a burst hose... not a good thing while driving on the highway.
tried looking for spec on tranny system pressure... but couldn't find any. i'm hoping one of you guys know the tranny pressure, or at least how much pressure is in the line running from the tranny to rad to cooler. thanks!
No significant pressure in the hose, but I've read and been told that tranny fluid will eat "normal" rubber hose like fuel injector hose. You may want to replace it with transmission cooler hose, more expensive but.....
I did the hose trick on my 71 camero when I was a youngster and it worked fine untill I had to get rid of it because it had a bad case of the metal worm (rust).

Just a note to say I didn't know there was a difference, have to admit the cars I did that to never saw much more life in them because they were already on their way to car heaven. The longest one lasted a year with it's death being the front coil spring opening the hood like a hump on a camel.I just want to say appreciate the info.given out through these posts.
