I can tell you that a '79 F-150 Long Bed 2WD with a 302/C6 is 4180lbs.

vehicle weight

thanks for the info - i'm fresh of the boat from Australia, and trying to figure the passenger/commercial registration technicalities for NYC.
I beleive 5500lbs is the max. weight limit for registering a pick up as a passenger vehicle to get it on the parkways, but i still need a cap to park it in the city right?

Benham - I have no idea about having a shell in NYC to register it. I'm sure they have some wierd regulations there and would be interesting to hear what you have to go through.

I noticed that you asked for GVW in the heading and then asked for unladen wieght in the post itself. For example, the '79 F150 I posted about above is 4,180lbs. unladen but has a GVW of 6,150lbs. A F100 will have a GVW hundreds of pounds less than a F150, but will be close to that 5,500lbs limit. If it is unladen wieght, then no worries.

Just in case you haven't been told, GVW is the total the truck can wiegh with cargo.

Vehicle weight

Hi 79indy,
I didn't know that - thanks for clearing that up.
I just checked back with the DMV website - it's the unladen weight that's got to be under 5500lb's, so i should be sweet to get rego'd as a pass. vehicle.
I think a pick up over 5500lb's needs to be modified with rear seats (x-tra cabs) and a cap/camping equip istalled to pass for passenger rego.
....and then there's the parking thing i still have to figure out...
I'll keep you posted.
