well I just need later than the 72 as they were right at 10.300 deck hieght doesn't leave any room for square decking the block when your rotating assembly ends up right at 10.300.
They finally gone and done it, I keep telling them "don't make me build a big block" but I am bieng forced out of superstock so will have to run modified, and open, and if I want to compete there, and run in missouri I am going bigger engine, like 532ci big block that will be bottle fed.
The one I have needs a rebuild anyway, so would be a good candidate. I believe it to be original at 227, 000 miles though. I imagine basically all you will need from it is the shortblock, we can probably work something out if you are interested.
I actually only need the block, as I will be using an after market crank, and rods, and as long as it isn't already bored to .060, as I need it to clean up at .080. I have to do a little more research but as far as I know there is no problems with the 92 blocks, they are just a little taller 10.320 if I remember right which is fine gives me more room to make sure it is square. And for heads if I use cast irons they will be something in line with the D0VE heads or go alum if I can afford it.
have to let me know what you want for it. No real hurry at this time if we work something out could just do the sale at the meeting.
Just FYI, my friend said $125 for the engine. It is a complete long block (carburated) with heads. I'm pretty sure it is the one I drove home that was put in an '80's shortbox. I traded the motor for other parts on my 79 restoration.
Let me know if I should hook you two up or not. If Fellro has you covered, that's cool too.
John;
do you happen to know what year it is? The price is right but if I can't use it or atleast part of it, then it's not worth it if you know what I mean. But I may be interested in it even if I buy the one from fellro, just in case after I have it sonic tested I decide there is too much core shift. At the hp levels I run with 13.5 comp, and nitrous you definatly don't want thin cyl walls

Are we talking a 460 here?? I might be interested in that. I'm currently rebuilding an old '82 F-350 and would like to put a good 460 in it. It'd just be a farm truck, but I want something that is in good shape, that would last me a while.
Yes, it's a 460. Casting # on block is D1VE 6015-A2B, on heads year is ground off but the rest of the # is D?VE A2A and uses small spark plugs .So I would guess it is 71-79.
if the block is a D1VE it won't work for me that is the short deck hieght block, The heads would be good heads to have though, but if farmb0y needs it and it runs good that would be a good engine for him. I need a block that has a D3** or later casting on it. But thanks although if you don't sell it I might have another person that is looking for one, but will wait to here if farmb0y takes it before I mention it to him.

I may be able to make it to the swap meet....not sure. My cousin Nick is getting married that day (Saturday) so...not sure. I might be able to go hang out for a little bit, but would likely have to haul back to my dad's to leave for the wedding.
Whether or not I can make it, if there are any costs associated with the meeting - I'll pay my portion of it. I believe I'll be driving up to Cedar Rapids (dad is a busy guy) so I should have my truck to drive there and back. My new one - if this woman ever gets the loan figured out. Hopefully I'll be able to make it. ^_^
well I got a job at the gilbertville locker and I'm working tomorrow from 7am to 5:30pm and will not be able to make it saturday or sunday(I have no funds to make the drive and have to be at work bright and early monday) so I 'm letting you guys know now.
