I have air tools and lots of parts, but no torch or welder. I too like the idea of helping where I can. We could change your shocks or tranny pan etc though!

If someone wants to "donate" a torch to the GarageMahal, I won't argue!

Cheers!

John

I have my propane burner, not a problem hauling it around, the Ox tank is kind of big though, gives me a workout to move it. I just remembered, due to your last post over on the parts thread, that the swap meet at Hawkeye Downs is coming up the 3rd weekend in October. Sounds like a good place to go to me!! It usually is worth the trip from the west to go, lots of parts and such, we take over the grounds pretty well, about as big if not maybe bigger than the one at the State Fairgrounds used to be.

You all have some great ideas... I'll do my best to make some of the meetings. I am a bit mechanically challenged outside of the basic oil change/tune-up. I'll just bring a note pad and learn from the pros!

Wish you'd have said this a couple weeks ago. I could have helped you with a couple regulators and about nine foot of hose. Just gave a pile of regs away on ebay and the hose and welding head. Would have helped you out. I'll keep my eyes open though.

I'm ok with the swap meet idea too. Should have my truck back together by then. Fellro, you need to post a schedule so I know for sure the times and places so I can make sure my place is cleaned up! (the real reason!)

Cheers!

Ok, I am going to basically make the decision at this time and we will just plan for the meeting to be at the swap meet. It usually dies off by 2 anyway, plenty of time to wander off to wherever. It starts around 6 AM, but is still going strong at noon, so no need for everyone getting there real early. As for the use of the garage Lifted, you could have the guys come over whenever you want, have smaller impromptu meets, there's nothing wrong with that.
As for cleaning up, I wouldn't worry about going too far with it, if it isn't dirty or cluttered, it isn't being used in my opinion. Hopefully you won't have to clear a whols stall to be able to use it.... I used to have a 3 stall garage when I lived near Williamsburg, and most of the time I had one stall in the threee that I actually could work in... too many parts and pieces. My walls are usually lined with motors and trannies, the axles stay outside.

October 16 and 17, Hawkeye Downs, Cedar Rapids, generally 7 am to 2 pm, but if someone is there, they will sell. Many of the vendors are there around 6, more show up by 7-8. the only requirement they have is that at least 10% of your inventory be automotive related. Race, Restore, cars, trucks, tractors, bicycles, motorcylcles, whatever you want. Some sell magazines and videos, some sell only hubcaps, whatever you have and want to get rid of or buy, whickhever side of the fence you are on. I used to go and sell a bunch, then go spend the mony I made on other stuff, so in the end, you could say I traded... I rarelty came away with a loss, actually, I can't think of a time i didn't at least break even, but I also only had a 45 minute drive, and it was smaller back then. Last spring was not as good as I am used to out of that swap meet, but Sunday was kind of cold, Saturday was severely windy. Lots of stuff, just wasn't what I was looking for. I bought 2- 1/2 tread 16" tires for $10, a receiver hitch that was rusty for $2.50, don't remember what else, but had a few items.

Thanks Fell! October it is for the Swap Meet, but for those of us that might not want to be there both days, should we make Saturday the "official" meet day? I'd like to put some names and faces to handles.

We can have an "official" meet at the Lift sometime in November if y'all want. I'll have to round up a propane heater as the garage is not heated. it's insulated, just not heated.

See you all at the Swap Meet.

John

Myself, I was thinking Sunday, but Saturday is fine too. It depends on the day as to which is better, Saturday is the good deals for the early part, Sunday is the good deals for wanting to unload whats left...
