That'll be nice for me since I'll be at school then and I'll probably be going to a few of the races anyway.
I think Farmboy has it snookered. Boone is centrally located and that would be a heck of a time. Maybe Saturday and Sunday............

It may just be the ticket. Not really centered, but it still can work, better than some other locations.

The 5th & 6th I have a Civil War reenactment in Madrid.
It's just south of Boone and FREE!
I'll check and see , but I think their is a parade too.
HHMMMM , how many trucks could we sneak into the parade? LOL

Well, we are quickly approaching September, so a decision needs to be made if we are going to shoot for the next meeting to be in Sept, or wait till later. I realize that we are coming into harvest season, so that is another factor to consider, as I am sure we have some farm operators on here by now. Early Sept is usually better for them as well. I can remember plenty of Halloweens out in the fields. So do we go for a night a t the races, or the Civil war Reenactment, or...

You think yours is bad I don't think I could sneak mine in anywhere unless it's a deaf parade, and then they would still feel the vibration.
Anyways I have a race on the 5th so couldn't make the boone thing on sunday, the next weekend I think there is a race but not sure yet, but my wifes daughters have a wedding shower going on sept 11 so if no racing then any excuse to get out of here works for me.
Lets hear from others about what days do, and don't work.

Sorry I haven't kept up, but I'm almost ready to drive my restored 79 somewhere! I don't mind driving the truck too far, so Madrid or Boone sounded good to me. Also anywhere up here by Cedar Falls is fine! (grin!)

Ok, due to lack of response and commitment, it looks like it will be at least October now to have a meeting, so any ideas to get this rolling, or should we just set a date and location, and those that make it do, and so forth?

First weekend in October I will be in California (Sept 30-Oct 4), beyond that it will just require me getting the day off of work. Hopefully it will not be too far. Not sure what all goes on in October's though, besides football.

Meetings,

Experience has taught me that you can't please all the people all the time. It usually works the best if we pick a weekend and make it the same time every month. Doing so will allow everyone to plan ahead for the date rather than having it jump around each month.

Typically, Saturdays work better in the winter and Sundays in Summer. Who wants to go to meetings during Green Bay Packer Football!?! Not me!

Moving it around the State on a rotation is also a good thing. Cedar Rapids one month, Des Moines another etc. That way everyone gets a change to have one close to them and/or host the barbeque! (I like Sirloin and Iowa Chops if anyone is taking orders. --grin--)

There, stuck my foot in the fire and I'll volunteer to host the October meet in Cedar Falls. I have a Lift in the garage should anyone want to do simple maintenance stuff and a big screen TV and BBQ on the deck.

Cheers!

John

Sounds pretty goodto me, we can have the next one on Des Moines area, unless someone out there is willing to take it now. Second weekend right now is what will be best from what I have heard so far. We'll run with this for now and see what comes up. Any other takers?

I AM all for going to where there is a lift in the garage lol ! although i have a pit in the garage i use right now, there is nothing like having a lift lol. i need to change my trans rear seal and pan gasket and filter and anything else. do you have a torch ? i wouldnt mind changing shocks too lol. i think we should try and go places where we can all tinker on trucks togather, nothing maor like rebuilding a engine in a day but maybe someone needs help pulling a engine or swapping out something or even a big sand down and primer party. something where everyone gets involved with helping other people insteasd of just sitting around talking about this and that lets get our hands dirty, and we can always have the BBQ going and the beer or whatver on ice.
