My first fill coming back from NY, I got like 12.7mpg with my CC V10 4x4 w/4.30s. Next tank was up to 13.62 mpg, that was with some driving on backroads and up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I was ecstatic That was the best it did on the way back to Florida. First couple of tanks back here with mostly in-town driving were right at 10mpg. First couple with the 3500lb utility trailer hooked up were just shy of 9mpg. The last one fell to a whopping 7.98mpg with the trailer hooked up all but about 60 miles. I don't want to even see what it will get with the trailer on for the whole tank. Based on my observations I have come to this conclusion...the gas mileage is all over the place and I can't do anything about it I think I'll stop checking it
I've got an 01 F350 DRW Crew 4X 4.30. The little computer on the overhead has said 9.3 MPG forever. I've never checked the old fashioned way but guess I should. How accurate, if at all, are these little computers?
Some are, some are not a lot depends on your consistancy refueling at same pump, same angle, same amount etc.... I found that on a 6 tank average the over head was very close to my manual math + or - .2 mpg. But my buddy started following my method and his was off .6mpg high. And a PSD "friend " used same method to verify overhead and was 1.2mpg off low. I think it is a good averager for a long trip for comparison purposes, but not accurate enough to paint your TRUE fuel consumption.
I have a 99 CC and I get a consistant 15 1/2 on the open highway @ 70 mph with out a load. Pulling my enclosed car trailer or my travel trailer it gets 9 to 10 1/2 @65 mph. I might add that I do have a five speed manual tranny.
I have almost 9k on my 2004 kr fx4 cc v10 w/ 3.73. Mostly city driving and I get around 11.7 mpg per computer. On extended trips unloaded 14-16. I am not sure on the accuracy of the computer, but I am adamant about resetting it when I fill up. The mpg has gotten better as I have accumulated miles.
Well I guess a constant 9-10MPG in my 99, F350, 4x4, Dually, 4.30s with 98,000 miles isn't so bad after all? I recently had the timing advance retarded 3 degrees and it did seem to improve the MPG slightly but I think I was over advanced at 35-36 degrees, now it's down to 32 degrees due to having detonation problems (which still exsist by the way). I have never seem better than 10.5 MPG since I owned it (about 6 months, 10K miles).
Does anyone have experience with the Volant Cold Air intake ? improve my MPG? I recently added a Magnaflow cat back system (no differnce in MPG).
I have 99 with v10, 4x4, 430 gears, k&n, no muffler, 315x75x16 tires, crewcab . My mileage went up when I got a topper on the truck .. It's up by 2 mpg , went on a 400 mile round trip and averaged 12.9 mpg at 65 to 70 mph .. Before only got 10 or less at 65mph Fred
