remote start turn on?

I have a 2008 XLT 4x4 F250 V10...~80k miles. Yesterday, I was with my buddy and when he started his 2012 F150 with his factory installed remote start, I commented I wished I had that feature on my truck. He said no problem...the feature was already on my truck it simply was not "turned on." He said that most likely the wiring harness was probably already in place, that all it may require were some fuse modules and/or some computer reprogramming. He said I could take into my local Ford dealership and for a couple hundred bucks they could "activate" this feature on my truck. This is the first I have heard of this possibility. Does he know what he's talking about? I know there are aftermarket add-on remote start kits, but if the hardware is already in place and would only require the addition of fuse modules and computer reprogramming, this seems like a "cleaner" way to go. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Dan

Your friend is somewhat correct, many newer model Fords have the harness in place, but it cost more than he stated, I think it may be around $350 or so. There is a module that the dealer will install, and it comes with it's own fob. In fact here is the link: Remote Start System - Bi-Directional, Without Push Button Start | The Official Site for Ford Custom Accessories
I opted to have the Viper 5904 install in my 2008 F250. Have a great day!

I have the Ford after market alarm/remote start system and it has worked flawless since I bought the truck in 2007. My only gripe is that once armed, you can't use the key pad to open the door without the alarm going off. Supposedly there is a fix for that but I haven't found anyone that knows how to make that fix. I would recommend the Ford system but I also had the Clifford (same as a Viper) on my 2002 F-350 and it worked great also.
