We were coming down a 12% grade about 60mph when I put it in 3 gear to hold it back. Loud whistle came out of left side of engine compartment. It was so loud, I put it back in drive. 05/03 engine build date auto transmission.
any experience with this?

 

Turbo blow back probably....
try it at a lessor speed and load ...

 

Sounds like a split hose/loose clamp on the pressure side of the turbo/intercooler. You should have been there when mine split during a dyno run. It was really loud!

 

O-yea its the hose.....loud enough to make you check your
