My XLT SuperCab, 3.55 limited slip rear, built in Norfolk, was as smooth as could be until 7,000 miles. I have this intermittent vibration that crops up, usually as the truck is easing down from highway speed or slow cruising around 45mph. It begins and increases until the whole truck is rocking. It only ends by stopping or slowing to a near stop.
The problem happened everyday one week, so I took it in to my dealer. At the end of the day, they couldn't duplicate the problem. However, they took me seriously, when I took the tech for a ride and it happened. He ran me through the paces (shifting into neutral, making sure the trans had downshifted from OD, etc.) to eliminate potential sources.
They told me to bring it back the next week for a Ford regional rep to look at, and naturally he couldn't get the thing to vibrate either. But, they did give me an onboard computer/recorder to ride around with for nearly two weeks. AND, no vibration...
I've driven the truck for 4 weeks without experiencing any vibration, until yesterday when I had a minor bout of the vibes. I'm not sure what to do.
vibration dampener, new drive shaft, road force balance tires, new ford aluminum wheels and my 2004 reg.cab xlt still vibrates betwen 40 & 50 mph. didn't start until about 4000 miles. sometimes it is worse than other.
I do believe I have a slight "nibble" at speeds around 65, but it only seems to be on certian roads. I think it's due to my tires needing a rotation so I'll post back after I get this done.
Hello All!
I purchased an 04 FX4 scab in June. This was my first ever Ford truck! I was a die hard Dodge owner. So far the dealer has replaced the driveshaft, complete rear-end assembly and just yesterday they installed a vibration dampner on the frame. Now Ford has came out with the excuse that the 5.4l causes the vibration between 1200 and 1800 rpm. So, what do I do now? The truck still vibrates between 50 and 60 mph under a load and also vibrates sometimes decelertating. I really think the Dodge Gods are after me.
