Question triton

What is the difference between a triton and non triton motor? I just bought an 02' F-150 4.6L triton. Want to know exactly what I got.

Triton is simply Ford's "badge" for a modular truck engine. Like Chebby's Vortec and DOdGe's Hemi... nothing that special about it, other than it's a Ford engine in a Ford truck

All 4.6s, 5.4s, and 6.8s found in trucks are Tritons from '97 on. BTW, prior to the '97 model, there were no modular engines in the trucks. Some Ford cars have had modulars in some of them since 1991.
