Pull Out Chip?

My son asked me if he could use my 99' F-250 PS to haul another truck on a trailer 200 miles. He is afraid that his 2002 Chevy truck will not have the power, even though there is no real climbing involved. My truck has the Diablo Sport set to high power. I do not tow anything out of town, so I keep it on the high setting because of the fun quotient. I am thinking of pulling the chip out and have him run stock. We may not have time to have the chip set for towing. Would it be a problem towing roughly 8000lbs in the high setting? Or am I being paranoid? I have a full set of gauges.

Thanks!

Just pull the chip, it's your truck. Then you can sleep.

If you run the highest setting all of the time you need guages.. I have a 110 hp setting and 5" exhaust and with no load I can reach 1300* by 65 mph.
I would pull it..

The chip has been pulled out... It's amazing how much difference in performance it makes. I hate to say it, but the PSD is a dog without it!

Thanks for the reponses,

If it was my son, I'd pull the chip.

Or.....if you left the chip in, he might just see the light and switch over from the dark side.

If it were my son I would leave it in. You said you have gauges. My son understands what they are for. He would not melt mine down. At least he has not yet.
