During the winter months my speedometer needle floats and will not accurately display the correct MPH. Now that it is summer the speedo works great and this has caused me to forget about this annoying problem.
Before the snow flys again, what could i look for that would be causing this problem?
Strange problem, when my 95 Taurus was doing the same thing, i took it to a speedometer repair shop & the guy pressed in a new "jewel". The speedometer needle pin rides in the "jewel". If your cruise control works normally when the speedo is bouncing around, the jewel would be my guess. On the Taurus time of year did'nt matter though.
The fix involves installing a revised (ie, new and improved) speedo head. If you do a search in here, you should find a few threads on this problem. I have it too; I've never bothered to fix it. It only affects the speedometer and not the odometer.
