Hi everyone, I've been reading on this site for a couple of years , just joined. Lots if great info. here. I have a '86 f150 4x4 xlt lariat. super cab, long bed,351w c6. This seems like a dumb question but here it goes, My left. window goes up when the switch is in the up position. and down in the down position, the right window works the opposite(down with the switch in the up position and up with the switch in the down position) with both switches. Is this normal? thanks.
Seriously though, it is rare for both windows to still work. It is possible the switch is turned upside down. Or the leads to the motor are reversed. I'm guessing that it was repaired at some point, which explains why both work, but something was turned around.
I'm not complaining, I'm just curious if that is correct. If they didn't work I would put crank windows in. I preplaced both switches with ones from j.y. and checked the wiring, the switches only go in one way. I guess that should have been my answer. This is just a project in my garage for when time and money permit.

When I bought my replacement window motor from Napa it did not have a connector on the two wires. It came with 2 butt splices and you had to cut off the connector on the bad motor and reuse it on the new motor.
The windows on my 85' work the same way. People kept asking me about it so when I replaced the passenger motor I flipped the switch the other way when putting it back in the door. I like the controls "backwards" on my side though.
