I just got a 2004 lariat Srew as a replacement for a Lemon Law Deal. I have the same thing when i Accelerate from a stop. Has anyone solved the problem yet?
I received my truck back from service. They changed the clutch pack in the rear. I've driven my truck about 80 miles since it was returned and there is no more clucking.
I'm a happy camper.
BM_KELLY, Ford has a service bulletin for this problem. Take it in and tell them you need the clutch pack replaced. Of course you’ll have to explain to them the problem and be able to duplicate it for them before they will do the work. At least that’s what my dealership wanted.
I've felt a bump/clunk only twice (about 2700 miles on my Lariat SCrew) and thought it was the transmission. I guess I may have the same problem y'all are talking about.
I have a list of things to take into the dealer for repair, most are small, but this one worried me a little.
Glad I joined this forum. Got the same problem. Not bad, just annoying. Other than than this, the truck is excellent. Guess I'll be seeing the dealer this week.
Thanks
Hey guess what! Made the appointment to get the truck fixed this morning. Decided to talk to the shop manager. "He never heard of this problem with the F150 before" But he was aware of this problem with the Expeditions.
(Why wasn't I surprised) Why bother putting out TSB's if they don't read them?
Had the same problem with Toyota. I had to download the TSB and drop it in their lap.
I get the same clunck/thump upon acceleration but mine is in the morning after my truck has sat all night. When I back out of the drive and then put it in drive and give it gas it does it and then at the next couple stop signs. Then after that I don't notice it anymore. When I had the PCM reflashed I told them about it but they couldn't find anything, but that was because I had already driven 70 miles to the dealer.
Boomer..I get the same thing you do. I keep listening for it even turning the radio off and windows up so as to really determine the problem. In the afternoons it does not do it I guess because of the TX heat the same as the drive time. I usually get it in the morning just as you and then by the time I am at work nothing....Maybe you/we should take it to the dealer and leave it over night and then go in the morn to show them....most dealers will allow that.
That is going to be the next thing I do. Just leave it over night and let them take it out first thing in the morning. I just never find a good time to take it and leave it..
boomer, mine does exactly the same thing. I back out my driveway, and then turn to the left to go up my street, and I hear the clunking. After that, it doesn't do it any more. Let me know if you or anyone figures out what this is from, and what the fix is. I have an appt next week to have them check it out. I only hope my new dealer has someone who isn't inept to work on it! Havaen't had the greatest luck with satisfaction from dealer servicing regardles of the maker.
