Question Do you use eBay often?

If you do, what's your feedback count? Mine is at 344 at 100%, so you know I use is often. I buy and sell, selling enough usually to go buy me something.

What's the largest ticket item you have bought? Pool table and my 1968 El Camino here.

Let's hear some interesting stories.

I only have 18 at 100% in the four years since I started using it. I have to restrian myself or I'll go nuts and buy all the stuff I want so I only surf ebay when I'm in the market for something specific.

I'm up to 40, woohoo! I just generally don't have the cash to do to much, but the largest I bought was a 51 chevy for parts for $40. My biggest gripe is the inflated shipping costs.

I'm with you re shipping costs which can change a good deal into no deal.

A Whoppin' six times in four years!

Most of the stuff I want is large, and shipping is a killer-I can either get brand new, or find something locally and come out ahead.

Say I want to sell a piece of electronic test equipment. I don't want to get less then $100 for it. What all do I need to do? I read something recently that ebay is mainly a place to unload stuff, not always at the best price you could get elsewhere.

Start your bidding at $100.

Or start your bid at .01 to save on the listing fee, and set a reserve price of $100. That way you don't scare off bidders with that $100 starting price. Works for me.

I sold the spare top to my Corvette for $750 and the bidding started at .01

set your reserve at $100 and dont let it go for a penny less....i got 36 feedback 100% positive.....the largest item i have bought is a motorcycle the largest thing i have sold is a car....it works great when people are honestnd dont inflate the hell out of shipping costs.....for example i recently bid on something and thought "man this is a great deal" then went down after i bid and seen "shipping costs: $45.00 in the US" well i got it and RIGHT on the package the USPS price tag read $7.60.....i was REALLY REALLY pi$$ed and told the guy that it isnt against policy to gouge for shipping charges to my knowledge but its shady business and i would leave him negetive feedback at the risk of getting it myself if he didnt refund all but $12 of my shipping...i said "$12 is more than fair for you to drop your product off at the post office" he agreed and i told him "next time dont leave the price on the box that reads $7.60 after i paid you $45 to ship it" ...i agree with Dono and them though thats the WORST part besides the people who sell junk and give minimal description that leaves them a loophole to jump through....if the description isnt to your satisfaction i would say dont buy it or ask the seller for a better description.....has anyone heard about the scam on Ebay awhile back where a guy was selling classic cars like 1 off hot-rods that he built from the ground up (this is how he got past the VIN# part of listing a vehicle)...well the cars were INDEED built by him from the ground up and yes they were 1 off vehicles...they sold from $12-50k and thats awesome for a 1 off custom hotrod with 0 miles.....well the thing was that he described it something like this "This is a car that i built in my shop, i am a retired car builder and i decided to take this up after my retirement. I couldnt sit still so i again begun to build cars, up for bid here is a 1931 _______ i put together with extreme detail, i painted all of the underbody and driveline to match the engine (see the pictures)....bla bla.....now he would have pictures of this car....they were really pictures of the car you were buying...the only problem they were unporportioned pictures ie: car in extreme foreground and beach on extreme background making it look as if the car was sitting on a beach with people walking around it .....now this guys would have bidders win the auction and they would transfer the $$ to him and he would contact them to arrange transport of the vehicle.....well shipping was included in the auction (nice guy huh?) now 5 days later you get a brown box with no return address and theres a model car inside that looks ironically JUST like the one you bought for $20k...yea...SUCKER...you jus got rooked....anyone hear about this??
